DESCRIPTION
A restorative aide helps patients regain or maintain their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. They work with patients recovering from accidents, illnesses, or surgery.
Responsibilities
Help patients with daily tasks like eating, bathing, and moving around
  • Assist patients with mobility exercises and activities
  • Help patients strengthen muscles and improve range of motion
  • Work on speech therapy
  • Follow patients' rehabilitation plans
  • Monitor and document patients' progress
  • Communicate with other healthcare team members
Qualifications
  • Certified nurse assistant (CNA) with specialized training in restorative care
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to work independently with indirect supervision
  • Physical strength, endurance, and motor coordination
  • Strong ability with sight, sound, and speech
  • Ability to frequently change position, such as standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting, and carrying
Work environment
Restorative aides work in a variety of settings, including nursing homes and rehabilitation centers. They work under the guidance of licensed nurses and therapists.
