Interviews patients to gather demographic and insurance information in order to register the patient in the computer system; establishes a patient record; provides Advanced Beneficiary Notices, HIPAA, Patient Rights and benefit assignments as directed; obtains authorizations, certifications, and referrals from insurance companies; identifies patient’s financial responsibilities and collects payments; acts as a liaison between patients, patients' relatives, and the healthcare organization; communicates patients' questions, complaints, problems and concerns to appropriate staff members; explains policies and procedures to patients and refers them to the proper services required.
High school diploma or its equivalent required.
A minimum of one (1) years experience in a customer-focused industry required; experience in healthcare patient registration with in-depth knowledge of patient registration process, healthcare billing and reimbursement, insurance verification and pre-certification, medical terminology, financial counseling and negotiating skills preferred.
