The Role 

Apploi is hiring a Principal Engineer to join our fast-paced, innovative, and remote-first company. You will be leading and growing the OnCall technical team to deliver improvements to our core scheduling product, directing integration with third-party technology partners, and innovating upon SMS and mobile team communication features.

In this role, you will establish a disciplined software process,  integrate software development best practices, and collaborate strategically with the OnCall platform founder to build and mature the product.

You will work closely in an Agile environment with other leaders in Product, Design, and Quality Assurance to design, implement and deliver upon our shared vision.

Who You Are

  • 7 to 10 years of full-stack development experience
  • Led teams and delivered multiple impactful products 
  • Strong knowledge of React (Redux, Hooks, Router, Cypress, Jest, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of GraphQL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong knowledge of AWS Serverless technologies (AppSync, DynamoDB, DynamoDB Streams, Lambda, Cognito, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, Amplify)
  • Performance Tuning experience
  • CloudFormation experience
  • Familiarity with Velocity Templating Language
  • Git Expertise
  • Experience in Agile development process & Tools

What You’ll Do

  • Spend 30% of your time as an individual contributor (architecture, design, coding) and 70% of your time in management, leadership, mentoring, hiring, and product development
  • Scale and architect our React App and AWS Serverless Backend
  • Focus on operational excellence to maintain and expand our React codebase, expand and improve our Integration and Unit test coverage, and optimize our GraphQL server and client
  • Lead and manage a team to develop high-performance applications by writing testable, reusable, and efficient code
  • Run code review and deployment
  • Provide technical documentations
  • Work closely with product management and business to design, prioritize, and release features and enhancements while paying down tech debt.
  • Document key business workflows and software designs
  • Develop and maintain client-side applications
  • Collaborate with front-end developers on the integration of elements
  • Implement effective security protocols, data protection measures, and storage solutions
  • Recommend and implement improvements to processes and technologies
  • Our tech stack includes React, AWS Serverless technologies (AppSync, DynamoDB, DynamoDB Streams, Lambda, Cognito, S3, CloudFront, Route 53, Amplify
